The focus here will be changes to the CityLink brand routes. The LocalLink, Express BusLink, and School trippers will be covered in the other two posts.

The major change is that 11 CityLink routes, 36 LocalLink routes, 9 Express BusLink routes, and 4 school supplemental routes received updated schedule for the service change. They are listed below, courtesy of the MTA website:
  • CityLink Blue, Brown, Gold, Green, Lime, Navy, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red and Yellow
  • LocalLink 21, 22, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, 36, 37, 51, 53, 54, 56, 59, 62, 63, 65, 67, 69, 70, 71, 73, 75, 76, 77, 78, 80, 81, 82, 85, 87, 91, 94, and 95

The majority of those lines received added running time in most periods, while others received re-calibrations, in which the timing was balanced. Below will focus on added or modified trips for each of the CityLink lines during Weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

CityLink Blue:
Trip times have changed on Weekdays and Saturdays. It is still 10 minutes during the rush, 15 minutes in the midday, and 20-30 minutes until 11pm on weekdays. Every hour until 8am on Weekends, 15 minutes during the day, and 20-30 minutes until 11pm.

One noticeable change is in the early mornings. Time was added to improve reliability which means trip times are earlier than for the Fall.

Although the first bus, currently 4:25am is due to arrive at Hopkins Bayview at 5:10am, the upcoming trip will now leave at 4:17am to give the operator more time to get across the line. Trips were also "spaced" out to avoid bunching and early arrivals.

CityLink Brown:
Trip times have changed for all seven days. It is still 10 minutes during the rush, 15 minutes in the midday, and 20-30 minutes until 11pm on weekdays. Time was re-calibrated, balancing the total time it takes to go between White Marsh/Overlea and Downtown.

On Saturday Mornings, two trips were added from Overlea. The new trips have dots next to them:

This will give riders needing to go Downtown a shorter wait time. The rest of the schedule generally stays the same, with trips leaving 2-3 minutes earlier or later, depending on if it's serving Overlea or White Marsh.

CityLink Gold:
Nothing major with the CityLink Gold, just re-calibrated run times, to improve reliability

CityLink Green:
The CityLink Green has a new timepoint on the schedule: Penn Station on St. Paul Street.

CityLink Lime:
The schedule was overhauled, giving additional trips between Northwest Hospital and Druid Hill Park, operating every 12 minutes between 6am-6:30pm. Service to Harbor East would operate every 24 minutes during the rush hours and every 36 minutes during the midday. Run time was added on both branches to improve reliability and rider convenience

Current:

New:

So service has been improved from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes with double the amount of trips to/from Druid Hill Park, serving the heaviest part of the route.

CityLink Navy:
Run times were re-calibrated to improve reliability and rider convenience while additional late night trip was added to depart Turners Station at 2:38am.

CityLink Orange:
Trips were added and run time re-calibrated to improve reliability and rider convenience. On weekdays, a 5:45am trip from Fox Ridge is added so riders can get into East Baltimore and Downtown earlier. Not shown on the brochure is also a 3:15pm trip from Fox Ridge, closing a 20 minute gap at the beginning of rush hour.

The new trip is highlighted by a dot.

However, what could be the most beneficial change occurs on Saturday. Currently, service operates every 60-70 minutes between start of service at 4:30am to 8am. For the upcoming change, service is being doubled, operating every 35 minutes during the same period.
