Summer Service Change In-Depth Analysis

CityLink Version


For the Summer Service Change, all 12 CityLink routes will receive a new schedule. The majority of these routes received received additional running time, while others received re-calibrations. Below will focus on modified or added trips for CityLink routes during Weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

CityLink Blue: CMS/Westgate to Hopkins Bayview
This route will receive a few trip changes. Currently, there is a 2:47pm trip to Westgate, which will now because a 2:48pm to CMS to improve the frequency between Edmondson Village and Security blvd. The 2nd change is to avoid bunching heading eastbound towards the end of PM peak, the 5:43pm from CMS was discontinued. However, the proceeding trip leaves only three minutes earlier at 5:40pm. Lastly, to improve early morning connections into Downtown, trips between 5:00am and 5:30am will operate every 15 minutes, instead of 15-20 minutes.

CityLink Brown: Downtown to Overlea/White Marsh
This route received major trip changes for the Weekday and Saturday service. Northbound service towards Overlea in the AM peak has changed to every 10 minutes after 6:20am, improved from 7-21 minutes. SB service received a pair of added trips at 5:10am and 6:20am for better connectivity and reducing overcrowding. This will double the headway from 30 minutes to 15 minutes after 4:55am between Overlea and Downtown. In the afternoon, a trip at 3:10pm was added to fill in a service gap out of Overlea .

CityLink Gold: Walbrook Junction to Berea/Canton Crossing
One slight trip modification for the CityLink Gold. There will now be a 7:39am trip from Berea to Walbrook Junction on weekday mornings, temporarily reducing the frequency to six minutes.

CityLink Green: Downtown to Towson
To get riders Downtown quickly during the peaks, three trips were added, departing Towson at 6:50am, 2:45pm, and 3:15pm. This also improves the frequency from 15-20 minutes to 10 minutes at the start of rush hour

CityLink Pink: West Baltimore to Cedonia
The CityLink Pink has received the most changes for all three service periods.On weekdays, the 4:45am trip from Cedonia, will now depart 5 minutes earlier at 4:40am, and from 5:00am to 8:50am, service will operate every 10 minutes towards West Baltimore. From 5:50am to 8:50am, service from West Baltimore will operate every 10 minutes towards Cedonia. In addition, service prior to 5:50am will operate every 25 minutes, instead of the current 30 minute frequency.

On Saturdays, trip times in both directions have changed but the frequency remains at 20 minutes.

For Sundays, service in the early AM has doubled, from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes after the 5:43am out of Cedonia, and the 6:50am out of West Baltimore.

 CityLink Red: Downtown to Towson/Lutherville
While Weekday and Saturday service virtually remained unchanged, Sunday service was updated to improve frequency during the early morning and midday periods. They including adding a trip from Towson, departing at 8:22am and one departing Downtown at 9:10am. There were also trip time modifications. Heading NB, trips that current depart Downtown at 5:21am and 5:52am, will now depart at 5:10am and 5:40am respectively. A SB trip from Lutherville, which currently leaves at 6:15am, will now depart at 6:06am. In the midday, frequency was improved on selected trips from 40 minutes to 20 minutes.

CityLink Silver: Morgan State/JHU to Curtis Bay
On weekdays only, times were modified on trips leaving Morgan State and JHU during the midday and evening. The 5:08am trip from Johns Hopkins is being discontinued. Riders can use the 4:58am trip from Morgan State instead. Midday service on both branches will depart 8-10 minutes later than the current schedule. Lastly, evening service will remain at 20 minutes. However, some trip times have changed. See below:
