Continuing on with Part II... It is January 2003 and my hometown transit system, MTA Maryland has taken delivery of 99 Neoplan Low Floors (0200-0299, except 0220, which was destroyed in an accident) Here is 0208, fresh from delivery on January 20th, 2003. Baltimore's second foray into the Low Floor Industry, these buses helped to retire the 1984 (8400) and 1985 (8500) series, although some held on due to an emergency that took place later that year. 8504 at Mondawmin Metro Station, June 2003 In the summer of 2003, MTA instituted a Light Rail Shuttle program that took the better of two years to complete. Tripper Tuesday: Sacramento, California

Good Evening and welcome to Tripper Tuesday here at Metro Transit Archives. Today, I will explore the River City known at Sacramento. Their transit system, named Regional Transit, operates a full fleet of CNG buses, mainly Orion V & Orion VIIs. This year, they are buying Gilligs to replace the oldest of the fleet, the 2200s and 2300s. In April 2010, I visited the city and was very impressed with their system, especially the light rail. So enjoy 16 photos from that day featuring Regional Transit, Yolobus, and the University of California at Davis Transit systems. 2003 Orion VII CNG #2350 in Downtown Sacramento 2888, then one of the newest buses, is seen laying over on Route 1   2402 is one of five specially painted buses which made have been at one time used for a limited or express line.   A pair of Regional Transit operators kill time doing their recovery next to 2877   2003, which was one of the only high floor...

Puff, Puff...Gas!

      Today's feature is about the wonderful world of Compressed Natural Gas buses.     CNG technology has long been a major player in transportation. Many systems in America and a few in Canada has embraced the technology, some going as far as converting their fleet to fully CNG. Here I will share some of the photos I have taken of CNG buses throughout the years.        New York City purchased 190 C40LF in 1999-2000. They were retired in 2013.   Before them, NYCT brought 30 Orion V CNGs and had two RTSs before that.   Even the private lines had them...the rare roof mounted RTS CNG The south loves CNG as well. Atlanta is becoming all CNG. This one is from 2007.  They bought cute C30LFs years earlier. In-between New Flyer orders was this batch from Orion. Among the first Orion VII CNGs built.  Boston bought 299 NABIs in 2002 and 2003. They have a few more years before retire...
