Winter Service Change In-Depth Analysis

LocalLink Version


The second of three posts will be on the changes which affect the LocalLink routes, that start this upcoming Sunday, February 2nd, 2020


The focus here will be changes to the LocalLink brand routes.

To continue improving on service reliability, all LocalLink and Express BusLink routes have received updated schedules for this service change. All lines received added running time in most places or re-calibrated running time, in which the timing was balanced. Below will focus on added or modified trips for the affected LocalLink lines during Weekday service. 



                                                                  
LocalLink 22
On weekdays, a 2:55pm trip from Hopkins Bayview was added to fill in a gap in service leading into the PM rush hour.
On Saturdays, the frequency increases from 25 minutes to 20 minutes, between 11:45am-5:45pm from Hopkins Bayview, and 1pm-6pm from Mondawmin Metro Station, adding one trip an hour in both directions.

On weekdays, 15-minute service continues with added trips in the late PM rush, departing from Brooklyn Park & Ride at 5:30pm and 6:15pm. 
On Saturdays, to better match ridership demand and improve reliability, service will operate every 40 minutes between 10am-6pm.

To reduce overcrowding in the PM peak towards Moravia , a new trip has been added at 3:30pm, increasing the 15-minute headway by a half-hour. In the early evening, service will operate every 20 minutes between 6pm-7pm.

Based on rider requests, two new trips have been added in the PM rush. One departs Westview at 3:45pm, with the return trip departing Falls Road Light Rail at 5:10pm. Adjustments were made on the trips proceeding the new additions. The current 3:21pm trip from Westview, will now depart at 3:05pm, and the current 4:21pm trip, will now depart at 4:28pm. Coming from Falls Road Light Rail, the 3:29pm trip will now depart at 3:24p, and the 5:33pm trip from Greenspring Station, will be departing at 5:46pm.

In the PM rush, trip times have changed by 2-3 minutes departing from Fox Ridge between 4:07pm and 6:08pm, and 2-5 minutes from Towson between 3:52pm and 5:52pm. All other trips remain similar to the current schedule

LocalLink 53
To reduce overcrowding heading towards State Center, a new trip has been added, departing Cromwell Bridge Park & Ride, increasing the headway from 15-minutes to 12-minutes during this period.

LocalLink 69
To account for additional running time needed, trip times have changed in the midday and early evening, from both Patapsco Station and Jumpers Hole. Some trips now leave 10-14 minutes later than the current service. This was also done to create a more stable frequency between the 69 & 70 between Patapsco Station and Marley Station.

LocalLink 70:
To account for additional running time needed, trip times have changed in the midday and evening, from both Patapsco Station and Annapolis. Some trips now leave 5-14 minutes later than the current service. This was also done to create a more stable frequency between the 69 & 70 between Patapsco Station and Marley Station. 
In addition, several trips have been modified in the early evening from Annapolis and one was discounted due to low ridership.  
The 3:25pm trip will now depart at 3:40pm. The 7:05pm trip will now depart at 7:14pm
The 8pm trip will now depart at 7:52pm. The 9pm trip will now depart at 8:40pm
The 10:02pm trip will now depart at 10:21pm. A new trip has been added at 9:15pm, and the 11:05pm trip has been discontinued.

To better match demand and improve reliability, weekday service will operate every 35 minutes during the rush hours, and 50 minutes during the midday. On Saturdays, service will operate every 50 minutes between 6pm-11pm.

On weekdays, midday service will operate every 30-minutes, while peak service remains at 20-minutes. On Saturdays, to better match ridership demand, service will operate every 40 minutes during the midday and early evening. Sunday service remains the same.

LocalLink 80
On weekdays, a new trip has been added, departing Rogers Station at 4:55pm, doubling the frequency from 30-minutes to 15-minutes. On Saturdays, a new trip has been added, departing Rogers Station at 7:35pm, doubling the frequency from 50-minutes to 25-minutes.

LocalLink 83:
On Weekdays, service will operate every 22 minutes from 7am-6:30pm. On Saturdays, trips will depart Old Court Station 10 minutes earlier between 5:30am-10am, and 4 minute earlier from Mondawmin during the same period.

LocalLink 85
On weekdays, trips departing Penn-North Metro Station will have their time adjusted by 2-minutes in the morning and midday, and 7-minutes in the PM peak. On Saturdays, trips departing Penn-North will have their time adjusted by 5-10 minutes to 8:45am. Afterwards, begins 15-minute frequency

Trips heading to Redland Court will now only serve 700 Red Brook Blvd in the AM peak only. In the PM, trips will by-pass the business park, but continue to serve when heading towards Rogers Station. In addition, to improve reliability, trips from Redland Court will depart 8-minutes earlier than the current schedule.

On weekdays, the 94 will operate every 35-40 minutes during the PM peak, while AM peak remain static. On Saturdays, service will operate every 50 minutes during the midday

Trips from Roland Park will now depart 10 minutes later during the PM peak service. Trips from Downtown will only change by 1 minute.

If you made it all the way through this, congratulations. This is all for the Winter changes as the Express BusLink trips are only run time adjustments, and the school tripper adjustment on the 53 from Boys Collegiate, is now assigned to the 54.
